About the organization

Our customer is a leading developer of laser engraving and cutting technology, with their global headquarters in the USA. Both sales & service activities for the European markets are provided by strategic partners. These distributors are responsible for customer support, service and maintenance of machines at the customer’s premises.

To further support the distributor-network, our client is now opening an European headquarters in the centre of the Netherlands (Utrecht area). Their European Business Manager now seeks support of a fast-learning, patient and experienced Technical Support Manager who will set up and grow the Technical Support Department for Europe and provide best in class service throughout Europe. The European headquarter will be growing, hence so will this role.

There is a distinct possibility that supervision of operations or different geographical areas will be added to your scope, provided this matches your ambition.

About the role 

  • Provide distributors with phone, email and web-based live chat support for system troubleshooting, parts installation, repair and operation of laser engraving systems
  • Assist distributors with the installation of print drivers, connecting the engraving systems to a customer’s internal network and minor PC troubleshooting
  • Set up and manage a spare-parts warehouse
  • Act as technical subject matter expert and trouble shooter towards distributors and customers
  • Provide demo’s and samples to (potential) customers
  • Take care of repair of machines
  • Occasional international travel to exhibitions and to the USA for training purposes

About you

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering / Software or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience; > 5 years in service environments for high tech machines, preferably in similar industries
  • Experienced in working with an international distributor-base
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • A natural curiosity to understand the full (technical) potential of laser engraving technology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-supporting and self-propelling
  • Service-minded and hands-on attitude
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CorelDraw. AutoCAD and Illustrator experience a plus
  • Fluent (native/near-native) English speaker. Another European language a plus.
